Five-stage driver screening

Before you see a CV, we test whether the driver can realistically do the job.

A truck licence alone is not enough. We screen documentation, real transport background, working English and practical readiness for Irish operations.

Screening focus

A truck licence does not prove readiness for Irish roads.

Before employer submission, we verify the driver’s documents, real transport background and working English. We then establish what they have actually operated, where that experience was gained and whether they are practically ready for the real Irish assignment.

A truck licence does not prove readiness for Irish roads.

Most EU drivers build their experience in right-hand traffic. Before employer submission, we establish what the candidate has actually driven and where that experience was gained.

Benefits you receive from this additional layer of insight

EMPLOYER TIME Risk is flagged before another interview is booked.

Your team spends less time re-evaluating candidates whose relevant history is already known.

BETTER CONTEXT The decision is based on more than the current CV.

Current answers can be compared with documented information from earlier recruitment interactions.

HUMAN CONTROL History informs the recruiter — it does not replace judgement.

Potential concerns are reviewed in context, and the final submission decision remains with a human recruiter.

Why it is difficult to copyA new agency can launch advertisements tomorrow. It cannot recreate years of documented candidate history tomorrow.

FAQ

Common employer questions.

Why is the placement fee paid before the driver completes a full month?+

The payment plan follows visible recruitment progress. The first stage activates the search, and the balance is paid only after the candidate has accepted the offer and confirmed travel. Post-start security can then be added separately through Replacement Protection.

What does the Five-Day Start Assurance cover?+

It gives the core placement an additional layer of start protection against a no-show, an immediate withdrawal or an obvious initial mismatch identified when employment begins.

How does U-Work reduce the risk of an early departure?+

We reduce risk before the driver reaches your company: eligibility and experience screening, live English assessment, internal candidate-history review, realistic vacancy communication and pre-departure control. Employers can add 30- or 60-day Replacement Protection for further confidence.

What information is checked before a candidate is presented?+

We pre-screen EU citizenship, the required licence entitlement, Code 95/CPC, tachograph card, relevant experience, working English, Irish-road readiness, availability and the actual vacancy conditions. We also review the candidate against U-Work’s internal recruitment history.

Do the drivers have experience on Irish or UK roads?+

We assess every candidate’s actual experience with right-hand-drive vehicles and left-hand traffic before employer submission. This may include previous truck work in Ireland or the UK, international routes into either market, or other relevant commercial driving exposure. The exact background is presented clearly so your team can make the final hiring decision.

How quickly can we expect a truck-driver shortlist?+

The recruitment process can take up to 30 days, depending on the route, licence category, schedule, required experience, working conditions and candidate availability. A focused shortlist usually contains 2–3 pre-qualified profiles.

Is U-Work a licensed recruitment agency?+

Yes. U-Work is a licensed employment agency operating since 2019 under licence No. 31973, issued in Poland. Candidate personal data must be handled through the company’s GDPR-compliant processes.

Can the service be adapted for specialist or construction roles?+

Yes. The same end-to-end structure can be adapted for specialist driving, mechanics, construction and other skilled roles. Pricing is based on the role’s scarcity, requirements, location, urgency and volume.
